This month, Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined Capgemini to unveil the company’s new advanced technology and development center. The new tech center and expanded office space brings 500 jobs to Chicago and further strengthens Chicago’s presence as a technology and innovation hub.

The new center at 333 W. Wacker Drive is the first in the Midwest and represents part of Capgemini’s worldwide, connected network of innovation centers, designed to serve clients across all major industries. Capgemini’s innovation centers allow diverse teams of experts to develop new technology and digital experiences, while shaping the next wave of world-class talent in fast-growing areas such as digital, cloud, artificial intelligence, customer experience innovation, and emerging technology.

Logistics Titan C.H. Robinson Expands Office in Chicago

On October 3, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Andre Zopp, president and CEO of World Business Chicago Chicago, joined C.H. Robinson’s CEO John Wiehoff to celebrate the opening of their Chicago flagship operation at the Lincoln Yards development in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The 207,000-square-foot building currently houses 1,100 employees, with the expectation to add more employees over the next several years.

“Chicago is one of the largest transportation hubs in North America, and C.H. Robinson’s incredible growth shows what happens when you combine an innovative company with the City’s unparalleled workforce and infrastructure,” Mayor Emanuel said. “I look forward to watching this company’s continued growth and the possibilities they will create for our residents.”

Chicago is a critical logistics hub for C.H. Robinson, whose customer base in Chicago has increased by 25 percent in the last five years. The Chicago office serves over 28,000 customers and manages over 1.6 million shipments annually through the world’s most powerful supply chain platform.

First Midwest Bank Plants Roots in Chicago

First Midwest Bank, one of the largest independent banks throughout Chicago and in Illinois, this month celebrated the company’s new headquarters in Chicago. The relocation from Itasca to the city comes as First Midwest is experiencing five years of continued growth.

The new four floor headquarters is located at 8750 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue and houses more than 300 local employees. First Midwest worked closely with Chicago-based, world-renowned architect Gensler to create an environment that promotes wellness and teamwork supported by lots of natural light, communal spaces, flexible work spaces, and advanced technology.
