Mayor Emanuel Joins C.H. Robinson to Open New Chicago Office

Industry-leading logistics provider has grown 25 percent in the City over the last five years with plans for continued growth in the future.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel today joined C.H. Robinson’s CEO John Wiehoff to celebrate the opening of the company’s Chicago flagship operation at the Lincoln Yards development in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The 207,000-square-foot building currently houses 1,100 employees.

“Chicago is one of the largest transportation hubs in North America, and C.H. Robinson’s incredible growth shows what happens when you combine an innovative company with the City’s unparalleled workforce and infrastructure,” Mayor Emanuel said. “I look forward to watching this company’s continued growth and the possibilities they will create for our residents.”

Chicago is a critical logistics hub for C.H. Robinson whose customer base in Chicago has increased by 25 percent in the last five years. The Chicago office serves over 28,000 customers and manages over 1.6 million shipments annually through the world’s most powerful supply chain platform.

“Chicago has been strategic to our growth as a company, and our investment in this new building not only reflects how important the City is today, but also reflects our expectations for the future,” John Wiehoff, CEO at C.H. Robinson, said. “We have ambitious growth plans at C.H. Robinson that include continued investment here in Chicago.”

C.H. Robinson began operations at their new five-floor office space at 1515 W. Webster Avenue on August 6, 2018. Employees provided input on the new building’s modern environment encouraging the inclusion of features that are important to them, including highly collaborative open work spaces and conference rooms, sit-stand desks, an expansive cafeteria and café, and a 5,000-square-foot roof terrace.

“One of Chicago’s greatest strengths for business is its global connectivity,” Andrea Zopp, president and CEO of World Business Chicago, said. “Companies like C.H. Robinson base major operations in Chicago because it is the premier North American hub for transportation logistics by land and air.”

C.H. Robinson is a Fortune 200 global company with more than 15,000 employees across 39 countries on five continents and $14.8 billion in total revenue. It helps more than 120,000 companies ship products with over 73,000 carriers and suppliers.
