Dom & Tom Expands in Chicago with Plans to Increase Presence in the City

In an ongoing effort to increase its presence in Chicagodigital development agency, Dom & Tom Inc. announced today that the company is doubling its office space in the Tribune Tower and adding several new web & mobile developers, UX/UI specialists, visual designers, and digital strategists to their staff. Cofounder and CEO, Tom Tancredi, has relocated to the Chicago office from New York City, where the company was founded five years ago, to focus on the company’s continued expansion.

“Our company’s 2014 strategy is all about Chicago,” says Tom Tancredi, “Chicago is primed for digital. As a business owner whose company provides digital development for Fortune 500 companies like GE, Bloomberg, and Fitch, to startups such as TopList and Zola Books, I believe that the market in Chicago is about to explode.”

Dom & Tom, founded by twin brothers and native Chicagoans Dominic and Tom Tancredi, was recently named to Inc. magazine’s list of the nation’s fastest growing companies for its work with clients such as Hearst Magazines, Fitch Ratings, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and General Electric to create unique, innovative experiences for their online and mobile devices. The company ranked 382nd on the Inc. 500, with 3-year-growth totaling 1,232%.

“We welcome Dom & Tom’s growth in Chicago, and look forward to the company’s continued success as a part of Chicago’s thriving tech community,” said World Business Chicago (WBC) President and CEO Jeff Malehorn. “Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship is a key component of Mayor Emanuel’s Plan for Economic Jobs, and we know the city’s unmatched talent base, diverse economy, and access to the world will make it an ideal location for Dom & Tom.”

Mayor Emanuel and WBC were introduced to Dom & Tom at the 2013 South By Southwest conference held in Austin, Texas, where, for the first time, Chicago showcased its technology, music, and film industries and further demonstrated that it is an ideal location to start and grow a business.

Dom & Tom has done much to embrace tech community in Chicago. In July, the company worked in conjunction with The House Theater of Chicago to issue the “Dom and Tom Challenge,” supporting the theater by offering $20,000 to fund their upcoming production if the same amount could be matched by public donations. Various supporters donated over $26,000 by the end of the event, bringing the total to nearly $47,000 when combined with Dom & Tom’s contribution.

Fostering innovation and building momentum around the region’s technology industry is a key component of the city’s Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs, called for by Mayor Emanuel and currently being implemented by World Business Chicago (WBC). As a part of the Plan, WBC is working to drive growth and opportunity in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship with its ChicagoNEXT council. The Plan aims to make the region the location of choice for headquarters of companies such as Dom and Tom.
