Grubb & Ellis Company is one of the world’s leading full-service commercial real estate organizations, providing a complete range of transaction, management and consulting services.
The company moved its offices from Northbrook to 500 W. Monroe, a premier Class A building in Chicago’s financial district; it had moved executives to Northbrook from San Francisco in 1997.
Grubb and Ellis will occupy three floors, approximately 64,000 square feet of the office tower. The office will be home to the company’s corporate staff, as well as its Chicago brokerage and management services operations.
“Chicago is an ideal place to run a business, because our city offers tremendous economic strength and resources combined with an enhanced quality of life,” said Mayor Richard M. Daley, when commenting on Grubb and Ellis’ move.
Depth of worldwide executive corporations and global linkages are one of the main reasons for Grubb and Ellis’ move to downtown Chicago.
Chicago welcomes $46 billion in foreign direct investment and 1,600+ foreign firms in and around Chicago. The city is home to 71 Consulates/Consuls General, 100 different international trade organizations and more than 30 international Chambers of Commerce.
“This move is part of our long-term growth strategy to position Grubb & Ellis as the leading global provider of real estate services and places us among other world-class corporations and financial institutions in Chicago’s financial district,” said Mark E. Rose, Chief Executive Officer of Grubb and Ellis.
Grubb and Ellis has approximately 125 employees that will move from its Northbrook office to the city. An additional 75 Chicago employees will move into the new offices at a later date.
