What is it about Chicago that drives such creativity and innovation? From the invention of retail mail order to the first skyscraper, from improv comedy to house music, Chicagoans have so often defined what’s coming next. Today there are more than 100 innovation hubs across the city incubating everything from digital startups to food companies. We’ll ask leaders from some of the creative industry incubators what it is about Chicago that makes for so much ingenuity and visionary entrepreneurship.

Craighton Berman 
Product Designer, Creative Director, & Founder of Manual, a design brand focused on the way people interact with food, Craighton has successfully used Kickstarter to launch a number of products including raising over $100,000 for the Manual Coffee Maker no1.

Kate Drane
Senior Director of Outreach for Tech and Hardware at Indiegogo, a crowd-funding platform helping anyone with creativity and passion to seize their own success and change the world. While at Indiegogo she’s empowered more than 500 entrepreneurs to collectively raise over $65M on the platform. In addition to working at Indiegogo, Kate is the co-founder and CMO of The Can Van, the world’s first mobile beer canning service.
