Panelists:

B. Muthuraman:  B. Muthuraman is the former Managing Director and present Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Tata Group, India. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Xavier Labor Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.  He is the Director on the Board of CEDEP, France and he  is a National Council Member of Confederation of Indian Industry. 

Michael D. O’Halleran: Michael D. O’Halleran is the Executive Chairman and founder of Aon Benfield, the largest reinsurance brokerage and capital advisory firm in the world.  Mr. O’Halleran also serves as Senior Executive Vice President of Aon Corporation, the leading global provider of risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage and human capital consulting, with $7.6 billion in revenue and operating in more than 120 countries and 500 offices.

Samuel C. Scott III:  Samuel C. Scott III served is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Corn Products International Inc., (formerly CPC International Inc.)  Mr. Scott held various management positions during his 30 year tenure at Corn Products International and has served as a director of Reynolds Metals Co., ACCION USA, The Executives' Club of Chicago, Abbot Labs, and The Bank of New York.

Smita N. Shah: Smita N. Shah, a LEED certified engineer, is the founder and President of SPAAN Tech, Inc., a woman and minority owned architecture and engineering firm based in Chicago. In 2008, the firm was recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies by Inc. Magazine and Crain’s Chicago Business selected her as one of Chicago’s 40 Under 40. Her professional achievements were also recognized in 2007 when she was named Young Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). 

Thomas Vallely: Thomas Vallely has led the Harvard Kennedy School Vietnam Program since its establishment nearly twenty years ago. He is the chief architect of Harvard’s institutional innovation initiatives in Vietnam and has played a key role in developing educational exchange between the US and Vietnam. Mr. Vallely’s work focuses on the political economy of economic reform, particularly in countries emerging from international isolation or with a history of difficult relations with the United States. In addition to Vietnam, he has worked in Cambodia, Myanmar/Burma, Mongolia, and the Ukraine.
