Bio International Convention
Bio International Convention
The Chicago region is a hub for the biotech / life Sciences industries, with more than 57,000 biotech employees and 1,500 biotech businesses. Industry giants including Abbott, Baxter, Astellas and Takeda have homes in our area, and work closely with the City of Chicago, State of Illinois and iBIO in order to assure our region leads by fostering growth in the industry.

In cooperation with one another, the region’s biotech companies, the City, and the State have been instrumental in the orchestration of the 2010 BIO International Convention which will take place May 3–6, 2010, at McCormick Place in Chicago.

A truly global event addressing the business of biotech, this year’s convention will be keynoted by presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Collectively, these men have served in the White House for 16 years and both have joined the BIO International Convention before: President George W. Bush in 2003 in Washington, DC; and President Bill Clinton in 2006 in Chicago. BIO President & CEO, Jim Greenwood, will moderate the discussion.

Additionally, Al Gore, former U.S. Vice President, and world renowned climate change thought leader, will deliver a separate keynote, sharing his vision and passion for making the world a better place to live.

The convention’s theme highlights how the industry is fulfilling the promise to heal, fuel and feed the world by developing life sciences in vital areas. Participants will gain insight about the next great medical breakthrough, but also what companies are doing to develop cleaner fuels and to advance agricultural biotechnology.

The convention will provide industry leaders with partnering, networking and learning opportunities, including business forums with unparalleled access to 4,000 top business development and licensing professionals, representing 1,800 companies from 35+ countries.

The BIO Business Forum is a strategic gathering place for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, academic research institutions and investors from around the world to learn about each other, meet one-on-one and discuss business opportunities of mutual interest. It also provides Chicago with an unmatched opportunity to showcase its vast resources to the biotech/life sciences world.
