Tanya brings a background of general business development, international marketing strategies that focus on China and expertise in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). Based in the WBC China office she consults on WBC Chicago/China-related initiatives. With more than ten years of U.S./China marketing and business development experience she shares her knowledge of current challenges and trends for both inbound and outbound investors.
Before joining WBC, Ms. Tan was the Director of Business Development in the Chicago-China Economic Development Center (CCEDC) in Shanghai. The office was established to encourage Chinese investment in Chicago and identify markets in China for Chicago area products and services. In 2011, the CCEDC became part of WBC’s portfolio of global economic development resources.
In the private sector, Ms. Tan was an Analyst and Relationship Manager at Kinsella Group, a Chicago-based investment banking firm where her role was to develop new-client connections and create relationships with Chicago Consular delegations from Asia. She coordinated business development activities with Pan-Asian business groups and international chambers of commerce. For seven years, Ms. Tan held various management positions in the Marketing, Public Relations and International Human Resources divisions of Shanghai Foreign Service Co., Ltd. (SFSC). SFSC is the largest Chinese provider of global human resources services, counting among its clients more than 12,000 foreign companies with 300,000+ employees in China. One of her key responsibilities at SFSC was maintaining relationships with Shanghai government offices and keeping clients apprised of policies affecting their businesses.
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, Ms. Tan holds an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with honors, from the Shanghai International Studies University.
