Strategy 8: Invest to create next-generation infrastructure
Doug Tichenor became a Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs Fellow in January of 2015.
Doug is a Real Estate Consultant at Gensler. Working between the disciplines of real estate development and urban planning, he has worked on several notable projects, allowing him to effectively assess strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats intrinsic to real estate development projects, long-range planning initiatives, as well as policy actions. Throughout his career, Doug has conducted highest and best-use (HBU) financial feasibility studies, economic/fiscal impact studies, and market demand studies for both public and private sector clients, located in the United States and abroad. These studies have brought value in a number of ways, such as enhancing the economic position of neighborhoods, towns, and regions; justifying the financial viability of real estate developments; aligning real estate design with market opportunities; devising strategies for implementation; and driving policy decisions.
Doug holds a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in public policy from DePaul University.
