Initiative: Metro Chicago Exports

Mr. Arvin is a Manager in the Chicago office of Ernst & Young’s Valuation, Modeling, & Economics (VME) practice, a part of their Transaction Advisory Services Group.  Mr. Arvin joined as a Fellow for the Plan for Economic Growth & Jobs starting in September 2015 through January 2016, because of his expertise on conducting and supervising valuations for purchase price allocations, impairment testing, federal tax planning, state property taxes, and embedded intangible studies and has supervised and performed valuations throughout the United States and foreign countries in a variety of industries including; power & utility, retail, healthcare, pharmaceutical, defense, telecommunications, and others.

As a plan Fellow he helped develop the long term strategy for the Metro Chicago Exports (MCE) initiative. The MCE initiative can be found under strategy five in Mayor Emanuel’s 2012 Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs. MCE is an unprecedented collaboration between the seven counties in Northeastern Illinois (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will) and the City of Chicago to increase exports from small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) to support regional job growth.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Management from Purdue University. He is all a an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers.
