Peter Robinson became a Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs Fellow in May of 2013 and in October of that same year Peter became District Director at Grainger.

Peter was named Director, Continuous Improvement in August 2009. He is responsible for supporting Executive Leaders (CEO’s Staff and next level Leaders) throughout the globe primarily by coaching leaders based on continuous improvement principles and methods, teaching lean thinking concepts and tools, and enabling the development and deployment of systems and strategy to align focus on breakthrough activities that support the company’s strategic vision and deliver sustainable competitive advantage.

Prior to joining Grainger in 2009, Peter worked for industry leading organizations, including: United Airlines, Amazon.com and FedEx Freight, where he gained a decade of experience as an Operations Leader, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Coach, and Change Agent, while leading several enterprise continuous improvement initiatives. Peter also held roles of increasing operational responsibility as Operations Supervisor for FedEx Freight, and Operations Manager of the East Coast Distribution Center and Operations Training Manager for Amazon.com.

Peter holds a Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts from Wabash College and a Master’s in Business Administration from Walden University. He also volunteers for Junior Achievement at a local high school sponsored by Grainger, serves as mentor or coach to many professionals and has on occasion partnered up with small businesses to drive process improvement, customer satisfaction, and competitive advantage in their business.
