Strategy 9: Develop and deploy neighborhood assets to align with regional economic growth

Wesley Prato became a Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs Fellow in May of 2013.

Wesley is an Audit Manager in the firm’s Chicago office focused on providing clients audit and accounting expertise. He has seven years of experience in public accounting providing client services in the areas of audit, compilations, compliance, and other accounting services. This experience includes working with developers and owners of multi-family residential and commercial real estate, construction companies, and owners of hotels and office buildings.

He is responsible for planning the engagements, supervising staff, and coordinating all fieldwork. Other responsibilities on these engagements include the determination of audit scope, selection of procedures to be applied, establishing budgets, workpaper review, identification of audit issues, client communications, and preparation of financial statements or reports.

In addition to his client responsibilities, Wesley is actively involved in the Chicago office commercial real estate group and has participated nationally within the firm in developing audit programs and techniques specifically tailored to auditing commercial real estate entities. Also, he has led internal training classes in relation to low-income housing tax credit partnerships. He also takes an active role in scheduling, staff development, and recruiting.

Wesley earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Additionally, Wesley is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society, and Urban Land Institute.

When not in the office Wesley volunteers with the Norwood Park Youth Baseball Association serving as a coach.
