Yohan Fernando became a Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs Fellow in May of 2013.

Yohan is the Senior Manager for Government Affairs for Comcast in the Greater Chicago Region, serving primarily the South Suburban area of Chicago. Yohan is a 15-year veteran of the cable/telecommunication industry and has worked in the City and the West and South Suburbs of Chicago. As part of Comcast’s Government Affairs Team, Yohan is involved with negotiating franchise renewals, developing and maintaining legislative relationships, actively participating in the local Councils of Government and promoting Comcast to local businesses and community organizations.

Prior to entering the cable/telecommunications industry, Yohan spent four years in the non-profit sector working for a refugee resettlement organization in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Yohan is a past Board Member of the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce and the Quad County Urban League.

Yohan grew up in Sri Lanka and came to the United States 25 years ago to attend Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Yohan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations from Knox and pursued post-graduate coursework at Western Illinois University.
