Combined Insurance Co. of America recently announced that it will move from its longtime North Side location at 5050 North Broadway Avenue to 111 East Wacker Drive in the Illinois Center Complex. The company signed an 11-year lease for nearly 100,000 square feet beginning in July. The new offices will house approximately 500 customer service employees.
Combined, which specializes in supplemental accident, health and life insurance products, was considering a variety of options for the relocation of its customer service operations. To keep the company in the city, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity offered Combined Insurance a $2.7 EDGE tax credit.
"The economic proposition put together by the State of Illinois and our real estate partners at Jones Lang LaSalle along with the building's amenities and proximity to public transportation options were the deciding factors in choosing this location. We conducted an exhaustive search of downtown and suburban properties and were impressed with all that 111 East Wacker could offer our employees," said a statement issued by Carlos Sierra, chief operating officer, Combined Insurance.
