JMC Steel Group, the country’s largest manufacturer of tubular products, announced its intent to move the company’s corporate headquarters, including 100 new and retained executive positions to 227. W. Monroe St. in Chicago.
Currently headquartered outside of Cleveland, the company already has 50 executive jobs in Chicago, and plans to add another 50 with the move. In addition, JMC has two Chicago-based manufacturing facilities, Wheatland Tube in the Stockyards neighborhood and Atlas Tube in Lake Calumet, which employ 286 collectively.
The company chose Chicago in efforts to increase its competitiveness globally, and enhance its marketing efforts after a recent organizational restructuring that will broaden its product lines.
“Chicago will offer JMC the connections necessary for companies to thrive in today’s global economy,” said Rita Athas, President of World Business Chicago. “We look forward to welcoming JMC and assisting them in becoming an active member of Chicago’s engaged business community.”
JMC Steel produces more than 2.0 million tons of tubular products a year through 12 manufacturing facilities. The company currently employs 1,750 people in the U.S. and Canada.
World Business Chicago worked closely with the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois to assist JMC in making its decision to move to Chicago.
