Brunswick Corporation is a leading manufacturer and marketer of high-quality products for recreational enthusiasts. Headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois, Brunswick relocated their Sales and Marketing corporate office to 200 South Wacker, bringing approximately 100 new jobs to the city.
Brunswick Corporation is the world leader in each of its product categories: pleasure boats, marine engines, fitness equipment, bowling equipment and billiards tables. It is also a leader in marine electronics and navigation systems. Brunswick's products are sold throughout North America, the United Kingdom, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
One reason Brunswick chose downtown Chicago is to be close to Lake Michigan, so the company could showcase its new line of pleasure boats. Chicago offers 29 miles of shoreline and 16 miles of beaches - a vast fresh water sea with 5000+ boat slips (the most public boat slips in the U.S.). This is coupled with the beauty of the Museum Campus (Field Natural History Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium), the newly renovated Soldier Field, Grant Park, Millennium Park and Lincoln Park. The company committed to several boat slips within Burnham Harbor.
World Business Chicago assisted Brunswick with the search for a Chicago-based office to house its corporate executives. WBC toured several office and commercial space options with Brunswick Executives and coordinated meetings on Brunswick's behalf for commercial space at Burnham Harbor.
WBC also facilitated meetings with the Mayor's Office of Special Events, leading to Brunswick's presenting sponsorship of Tall Ships Chicago 2003, the largest Tall Ships Festival to ever take place in the Great Lakes along Chicago's lakefront and river. The festival was a huge economic driver for the city bringing millions of people downtown for the festival, and confirming Brunswick's position as a corporate citizen within Chicago's business community.
