Where are Recent Grads Coming to Chicago From?
World Business Chicago partnered with LinkedIn, analyzing 3.4 million Chicago profiles to inform talent attraction initiatives
To help uncover potential drivers behind talent supply, demand, and migration trends, World Business Chicago (WBC) established a research partnership with LinkedIn. LinkedIn analyzed 3.4 million Chicago profiles for recent graduate job movements; high-demand skill sets; and company skill sourcing (local vs other markets).
Insights from LinkedIn’s work — for example, Big Ten alumni tend to return to Chicago 5-10 years out of school; Chicago internet, software, and infotech companies have above-average retention rates; and Chicago has a 67% higher logistics skill concentration than LA — are helping to inform ThinkChicago and other ChicagoNEXT talent attraction and retention strategies. See how Chicago fares below.
