Myrna Farmer serves as the Executive Director for Board Relations.  In this role, she reports to the President and CEO and is a member of the executive leadership team.  She is responsible for the management of WBC’s board of directors and associated committees, meeting materials and developing the strategy for board recruitment and engagement.

In her previous role, Ms. Farmer served as the Administrative Chief of Staff to the former President and CEO at World Business Chicago. In this capacity, she facilitated executive-level activities associated with the CEO’s day-to-day and strategic economic development priorities, including speech logistics, meeting oversight, research, outreach, coalition-building, marketing, and matrix management, representation.

Prior to this role, Ms. Farmer was a Senior Ceremonials Officer in the Office of the Chief of Protocol at the U.S. Department of State, serving President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama, and Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John Kerry. Using her public affairs savvy, Ms. Farmer produced over 500 highly visible and diplomatically significant events covering defense, federal, state, and local government categories.  Most notably,  the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York, the 2008 and 2012 Presidential inauguration, and the 2012 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Hawaii.

Before joining the State Department in 2005, Ms. Farmer lived abroad for ten years in West Africa, the South Pacific, the Caucasus region of Eurasia, and Southeast Asia, where she further developed her international public affairs, protocol, and diplomatic skills and experience. With her expertise in both the domestic and international arenas, Ms. Farmer is well equipped to execute the complex duties and competing priorities to drive strategic results.

Ms. Farmer graduated with a B.A. in Communications from the University of Maryland University College.
