Position Summary:

The Research Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Research team with coordinating key initiatives between research and other internal WBC teams, and will have the opportunity to take a consultative approach to the workflow as the Research lead on cross-functional teams. The individual is dynamic, hard-working, and eager to engage in an “all-hands-on-deck” small-team environment with strong data gathering skills and a passion for applying research to drive economic development in Chicago through WBC’s mission and goals. The individual should be comfortable with or highly interested in developing skills in spreadsheet programs, like Excel and Google Sheets. Reports to the VP of Research.

Job Content

  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking
  • Daily news and press clipping research
  • Salesforce content management
  • Basic desktop research and fact gathering using google searches
  • Coordinating deliverables and responding to follow up questions with Marketing and Communications team
  • Coordinating deliverables with Business Development and Community Impact teams
  • Production of basic maps with locations plotted
  • Fact checking presentations

Client/Colleagues Interface – Internal/External:

  • Works internally with the research team as well as across departments to coordinate deliverables

Knowledge or Expertise:

  • Experience with Excel (there will be an assessment to determine skill level, with the opportunity to develop additional experience in Excel and other analytic systems)
  • Demonstrated understanding of economic development concepts
  • Highly collaborative work style
  • Desire to problem-solve thoughtfully and creatively
  • Positive, proactive attitude toward projects and detailed research work
  • Strong sense of organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with courtesy, clarity, and diplomacy

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, policy, planning, or a related field is preferred
