Regional Collaboration

OUR REGIONAL COMMITMENT

Economic development doesn’t end at Chicago’s city limits. We work with economic development leaders across Chicago’s collar counties to ensure that wins across the Chicagoland region are shared and built upon.

In 2023, World Business Chicago established The Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership (GCEP): A strategic alliance between the City of Chicago and its seven surrounding counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will.

Managed by World Business Chicago, GCEP combines the Chicagoland region’s unparalleled assets – world-class freight and infrastructure, diverse talent, global industries, and premier research institutions – into a single, powerful voice.

Our Competitive Advantage

The need for this collaboration comes from the simple fact that much of Chicago’s economic assets, like talent, institutions and freight infrastructure, are shared across the Chicagoland region. Workers commute across county lines, while businesses diversify their portfolios and supply chains across the region.

In fact, the diversity of our region is one of our greatest assets: businesses and residents can find whatever they want here – from a manufacturing site to office space near transit.
