Gensler | Workforce Development
A third-grade classroom assignment first introduced Miguel Rodriguez to architecture. Years later, during the pandemic, he chose to step away from college to help support his family's restaurant, a decision that put his dream of becoming an architect on hold. Then he discovered the Gensler Apprenticeship Program (GAP).
Through paid, real-world experience, mentorship, and structured professional development, GAP gave Miguel a new route into the profession. Four years later, he's continuing his career at Gensler. Miguel's story highlights the value of nontraditional talent pipelines. By investing in paid, hands-on training opportunities in architecture and design, GAP and similar programs help broaden access, grow the regional talent pool, and ensure the industry better reflects the communities it serves.
